On November 2, 1993, Texas voters approved a constitutional amendment providing an exemption from property taxation for pollution control property. Pollution control property refers to a facility, device, or method for control of air, water, or land pollution. A facility may obtain an exemption from ad valorem property taxes for equipment installed to comply with environmental laws or rules. This can result in the reduction of a facility’s appraised value by the value of the pollution control property which in turn means lower property taxes.
EcoServe Environmental Consulting can determine if your facility owns or utilizes property that falls into the State’s approved Equipment and Categories List and assist your facility in obtaining a positive use determination from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
